Switch received with issue from distro/vendor.
I apologize up front that my first post is one of negativity. To start off, we could not be any happier with your products. Have deployed about a dozen or so but we are very happy thus far. We have been ordering our switches from Streakwave and recently received one with corrosion in the ports. Its enough to second guess trying to use it. Looks like typical corrosion you would see if some moisture gets into an outdoor radio port as an example. Anyways we wanted to know how to proceed. Should we try to "clean" the pins and cross our fingers or should we request a repair/replacement? Its a mini 6 showing corrosion in all 6 ports and looks brand new/flawless otherwise. Any info is greatly appreciated. Tried the search button and we are aware of the repair options, which are great by the way. Thanks for your time!

Re: Switch received with issue from distro/vendor.
There have been several post about this.
In some "rare" cases the RJ45 jacks have a past like material/film on them from the manufacturer, I think this is some type of grease from their machines but not corrosion.
Use a que tip and some alcohol and it cleans it right up which is why I know it is not corrosion.
Since the contacts in the RJ45 are gold plated (cheap gold) it is not corroded.
Now this is not to say that if you have leaky cables or really humid environment that the cheap gold plating will not get burned off and then you will get corrosion.
It takes electrical current and humidity to get past that cheap gold plating which you will have when the switch is in service but not in storage before service.

Good to hear. Wanted confirmation before we do something we would regret. Thanks for the info!

Worked great. For any of those who read this post the alcohol and q-tip solved it. Thanks!
