Re: v1.4.1 Bug Reports and Comments

I just logged into my WS-12-400-AC switch running v1.4.1 and noticed 100% CPU usage. I disabled the "Discovery Tab", rebooted the switch and CPU usage dropped back to the normal 7%-14%

I will continue to run 1.3.9 on all my other switches as I have had zero issues on these units.

The high CPU useage is because of a bug in the Discovery Tab which if you disable the feature and reboot it goes away and only affect certain people not all. I think it has to do with how many devices are set to announce themselves via CDP but I forgot to ask Eric what it was.

There will be a new v1.4.2rcX released later today that should fix this issue which had to do with the CDP discovery routine for the DIscovery Tab.

However there are MANY fixes and enhancements in v1.4.1 which you should not over look, carefully read the release notes and see.

The one major thing in v1.4.1 and v1.4.2rcX is the Pause Frame Storm protection which will protect you from the bug in the UBNT airMAX AC and airFIBER firmware.

Also be sure to read the fixes that were in v1.4.0 and v1.4.1

Thanks for the reply. I have actually disabled flow control on all AC PTMP and AF 24 units from the issues with the UBNT firmware. I have of course had 0 pause frame issues since the flow control is currently disabled.

There are a few changes in 1.4.0 I would like to have but defiantly not a deal breaker to keep my 1.3.9 units running since as stated above they have no issues. Once there is a stable firmware with minimal/no issues I will update all of the switches at that time to keep client downtime to a minimum.

I just upgraded a WS-12-250-DC from 1.3.8 to 1.4.1 and when it was done the unit had no graphics. no power, wattage, usage graph, port usage at the top was blank, the status area had no data. The frames or maybe they are call masks were all there, just nothing in them.

Basically ALL graphics were missing. I could move from menu tab to menu tab and see text info in them. The unit was working a passing traffic.

I rolled back to 1.3.9

What browser were you using?

Try Chrome and and also hit refresh when it reloads as the web pages have changed and some browsers cache them.

If you insist on using another browser make sure it is upgraded.

Also I would use v1.4.2rc6 as it is basically v1.4.1 with fixes, one is important.

I noticed when I upgraded some WS-250-DC switches that the Discovery tool doesn't work if you have a management vlan. I have a The same Management vlan in the switch as I have on my radios.

I did notice if you left management vlan as 1 it works when your radios have no management vlan.

Please try with v1.4.2rc6 - besides v1.4.1 has a pretty nasty bug if you have the Discovery Tab enabled

Then report back and post up a picture of your VLAN, Discovery, and Device/Status Tab

Hiyo,

We get this sometimes received in email from a 1.4.1 switch:

(null) <******@emailaddress>
1:50 AM (7 hours ago)
to netadmin

unexpected link change on port 12 1G - from (null) (Unknown)

So for some reason the switch ID shows up as (null). Anyway, just wanted to report it so it can be addressed in the next version.
