We removed the 24VH from ports 3 and 4 as the need for 24VH is not there as the AFX radios now support 48V or 48VH but can also be powered by our normal 24V ports if the cable run is 180' or less.
All AF2X and AF3X radios support 24V, 24VH, 48V and 48VH
All the new AF5X radios support 24V, 24VH, 48V and 48VH
Only the first batch of AF5X radios will not support 48V and 48VH and only support 24V and 24VH
see this post for more info: viewtopic.php?f=6&t=1215#p9040
The only radio on the market that will use 24VH is the Ignite Metrolink which will also run off our standard 24V port however we kept (2) 24VH ports just incase.
We also saw too many people trying to use 24VH to power airMAX radios which resulted in the death of the radio and the switch port. I guess they thought if 24V worked then 24VH would supercharge the airMAX radio?......*magic white smoke*
There were many reason we did this:
1) We added some enhanced RF filtering which was needed for our DC models to operate at FM transmit towers so we need board real estate and the ability to offset some of the added costs.
2) We add some enhanced protection to better attempt to protect the current sensors for those people who do not do proper grounding so we need board real estate and the ability to offset some of the added costs.
3) We added the ability to add (6) 48VH ports to the Rev F WS-12-400-AC so we need board real estate.
