Again, all good points. I am a software engineer by trade and a long time electronics hobbyist so I do understand importance of good ground and ESD. However; I have a hard time believing that the relatively new house (15 years) would not be built up to the code.
In all these years not a single appliance, gadget or networking device failed or had problems with power.
I never heard of any manufacturer recommending such ridiculous requirements (grounding wire) for their product to function properly.
If there is a problem with my ground, somebody forgot to tell Zyxel, Ubiquiti, Synology and others because they've been working properly connected to the same outlet.
I purchased Netonix because I wanted to support local business (PA) but if it means that I have to put it in a Faraday cage then I'd rather use Chinese made and assembled goods.
It's just sad that the first few replies to my post immediately shifted blame to my environment.
This will be my last post to this subject as apparently the problem was already found.
BTW, I did submit RMA request, so it is in Netonix' hands. Whatever the outcome, warranty or not (switch purchased 5/2016) this experience left me with a sour taste in my mouth...

Re: Port power weird reading
Ground currents could be due to the end device having another disparate ground and does not imply that your house wiring is not up to code.
There is a thread that discusses modifications that were done to all units made after September of last year, so your unit being older does not have those mods.

Re: Port power weird reading
If you are running Ethernet cables from one device on one electrical service panel in a large building to a device on another electrical service panel in a building you are bridging/bonding ground potentials through your Ethernet cable.
This is not a good idea as each service panel will have a different ground potential.
This post here talks about that
