POE data locking up

Mon Dec 18, 2017 5:05 pm

We have a new WS-12-250-DC powering 6 APs with POE and several other ethernet connections just using the ethernet connection without POE.

Now twice we've had the POE ports stop transmitting data. Power is still working but no data. Rebooting the switch gets everything working again. The other ports without POE pass data just fine without reboot.

We are running the latest firmware on the switch. Is there any other info I can supply to help with stopping this from happening? Thank you.

Have you try rebooting only the radio with PoE ? Maybe the problem is not the switch.

Have you checked spanning tree? Flow control?

Yes that was tried first. On all 6 radios. No data would pass until the Netonix switch was rebooted.

It happened again last last night. All POE devices unable to pass data but powered on. Tried rebooting the radios first and even bypassed the switch and they worked fine. Once switch rebooted we were good to go.

Sounds like a Packet Lock from Flow Control.

Please disable Flow Control on all ports on the Ports TAB and see if issue stops.

UBNT has known FLow Control issues with airFIBER and airMAX AC radios, this has also been seen with some Cambium models.

Flow Control is nice under the right situations and one understands the potential dangers otherwise you are better to disable it.

Is some form of STP enabled? Anything in the event log of STP blocking ports?

Is flow control enabled? Do the port counters show a lot of pause frames?
