Hi,
We have purchased recently a WS-12-250DC on factory version 1.4.7 switch and it was upgraded to 1.4.9 in the lab, did a reset to factory after upgrading and power cycled just to make sure it was ready for configuration. The next day we took it on site powered it on and configured everything 1x 48v and 9x 24v powered ubnt radios - everything perfectly working all normal.
The next day the switch went mysteriously offline and had to visit the remote site to check it out. After doing so we found the switch was "turned off". Power supply was fine everything normal but the switch was off. The green LED in the front was off and inside the switch from the rails you could see a smaller green led that was on marked as "D2" (attached photo).
We tried power cycling the switch but nothing happened, so we decided to remove the power while we bring another new unit. 10 Minutes later after configuring the new switch we tried our luck again attempting to boot the old switch in order to backup the configuration. To our surprise the switch booted ! We logged in and managed to grab the config file - everything was working normally - even the radios powered up all good. 2 Minutes later the switch started making some intermittent "buzz / chick" noises from inside, after it did this it turned off again and started powering on by itself for 2-3 seconds and then turned off again - but this time it stayed off essentially going to the state that we found it to be not working.
So we replaced the unit with another and took this back to the lab to test. Upon powering on the unit we reset it to factory and everything seemed normal. In order to further test functionality we added 3 devices totaling to 20watt consumption. After 10 minutes of operation the switch did the noises again 2-3 times and turned off. It then refused to power on until we waited about 10minutes to try again but this time it turned off after a minute of operation (attached screenshot at the state it turned off)
Has anyone seen this? Is it fixable prior to sending it for RMA?
Thank you

Usually requires an RMA

Hi Julian,
Thank you for your reply.
In order to avoid the time delay/shipping costs - can we official ask for permission to repair it ourselves under warranty?
We have an excellent crew that can repair such devices that are usually not under warranty and are confident we can repair it with the proper part.
Thank you
