ws-6-mini, pb-ac-gen2 port negotiation and switch reboot

Tue Jun 12, 2018 3:49 pm

Hi,

I've got a problem with a PowerBeam 400 AC gen2 on a ws-6-mini. It had been working reliably for several months but the radio's lan connection to the switch has started randomly dropping out. It appears to last about a day before dropping the connection. The radio is the uplink for the site, so I can still access it remotely when it happens, and it shows no ethernet connection. After forcing the LAN port of the radio to use 100M-F in AirOS we've seen it last for a few days without issue, although showing up as 100M-H on the switch. However at the point when you apply the setting on the radio, the switch reboots.

The switch is powered by the 60W 50V ubnt power supply, and has a load of about 40W (It's also powering a cloud core router and an IsoStation).

Cheers

I would check the cable connectors.
Clean them out and reseat them if not replace the ends or at least bend the tabs up to lock better and make sure there is no strain on the cable connectors by the cable weight.
Then always leave ports speed/suplex to auto.

As the temperature is rising (spring/summer) the cable connector and sockets expand and wiggle lose sometimes and cause less than great connections.
