Switch Dropping 10th Packet

Wed Jun 27, 2018 10:13 am

Good Afternoon,

We are experiencing an intermittent issue where every 10th ping through the switch gets dropped. This happens both ways however does not happen if you ping out from the switch or to the switch. The problem comes and goes randomly; it can happen for 1 minute in the day or for 5 hours in a row.. In the attached image the setup is: MikroTik CCR1009 Router on Port 1, Ubiquiti PBE-5AC-400 on port 3.

It might be something very simple just seems very odd that it's every 10th packet that drops.. Is there something I am missing?

Many thanks for your help!

I do not think this is a switch issue.

More likely a bad link or bad cable or end.

I would of course upgrade firmware to v1.5.0 or better yet v1.5.1rc1

I would go on site and plug into switch then ping each device connected to each port.

Then ping a device further out on each link looking for bad link.

Also if this is a flat network and or you have a bad devices it could be caused by flow control, try disabling flow control on all ports and see what happens.
