loop protection

Fri Jan 04, 2019 2:03 pm

MWhat exactly is loop protection in the GUI?
Is it what I assume, protection from an Ethernet loop?

If so, is it possible to get false alarms?
I have a WS-MINI that has one port inbound (6) and 5 customer facing ports - some to PtP links, one to PtMP link, one to PC link
I get these random loop protection warnings in the log...

Yes, loop protection is a ethernet loop protection to protect the switch where STP can't.

Hard to say why without a pcap file, what can be done via a port mirroring to a PC with tcpdump or wireshark.

Layer 2 or 3 device connected to port 6 ? If layer 2, last firmware on layer 2 devices connected to ports 6 ?

If you go to the tab "Device", sub-menu "Configuration", section "Storm Control", you can higher the value for "Loop Protection" to disable the port (Broadcast, Muticast, Unicat), so Loop Protection would be less sensitive.
