SFP: Fault on SFP4, resetting...

Thu Aug 13, 2020 10:08 am

My log is filling up with the message:
"SFP: Fault on SFP4, resetting..."
Only one problem, it's a WS-24-400B (Firmware 1.5.5, board revision D) which only has two SFP ports. And there's nothing plugged into either of them anyway.
Anybody have any ideas?
Nicholas.

I've always seen this on some of the older 24 ports. I have about 6 that do this. Running 1.5.5, has been doing it for years so its not this image.

Code: Select all
Aug 13 09:44:17 SFP: FAULT on SFP 5, resetting...
Aug 13 09:44:20 SFP: FAULT on SFP 5, resetting...
Aug 13 09:44:23 SFP: FAULT on SFP 4, resetting...
Aug 13 09:44:26 SFP: FAULT on SFP 4, resetting...
Aug 13 09:44:29 SFP: FAULT on SFP 5, resetting...
Aug 13 09:44:32 SFP: FAULT on SFP 5, resetting...
Aug 13 09:44:36 SFP: FAULT on SFP 4, resetting...
Aug 13 09:44:39 SFP: FAULT on SFP 4, resetting...
Aug 13 09:44:42 SFP: FAULT on SFP 4, resetting...
Aug 13 09:44:45 SFP: FAULT on SFP 5, resetting...
Aug 13 09:44:48 SFP: FAULT on SFP 4, resetting...

Never stops. None of the ethernet ports are blown and the 2 SFP ports do work.

Exactly as per the snippet posted in this thread - that's all my log contains!
