We had a switch that quit working after a storm. After going out and checking things everything is still working except one port in the switch. When anything is plugged in to that specific port the switch quits passing traffic.
Is there any chance this is a software issue? We've had lots of switches with bad ports before, but I've never run into this specific scenario where a bad port kills the whole switch.
It's a real bummer of a failure mode.
Bad port, switch won't work when device plugged in

Kevo
We have never seen this failure type also, normally just the damaged port is bad & the rest of the switch works.
Can you tell me which model of Netonix switch you have?

My guess is the storm damaged something we have not seen before.
However we do offer a repair service, read this thread viewtopic.php?f=6&t=1259
I am out out of town this week so not much will get done until I return Jan 4th.

It's a WS-24-400A. I'll make a note of the repair service and maybe we can send this one in when we have a chance to swap in a new one. Thanks for the info.
