Chris,

Thanks for the response. The LACP is run locally between the router and the switch on copper. Is it possible that the pause frame issues is causing the LACP to drop? What else should I investigate on the LACP drop issue?

Thank you.

Yes, it could be the pause frames.

You should try disabling Pause Frames on the switch port facing the AC Radio or disable on the ports between the switch and router (LACP LAG) and see which one works best.

The problem is UBNT fires off "unsolicited" Pause Frames in rapid fire until its port buffers are clear.

I have complained about this behavior to them.

BTW what is the last time you complained to them and have you got any answer?

Back in September I was speaking to Chuck about this behavior.

Chuck said that when the AF radio Ethernet port buffers are full (and they do not have much in buffer space) they rapid fire "unsolicited" Tx Pause Frames as fast as they can generate them until their buffers are clear.

There has been no "official" response from UBNT on how the airMAX AC radios handle it, and it is a different team but some users report similar Pause Frame Storms.

The problem is when a link modulates down fast or the physical link state is much higher than the wireless capacity and whoever is sending packets to the radio has more capacity than the wireless link but only is aware if physical link state and buffers quickly over fill.

I believe UBNT has to change the way they do Flow Control Pause Frames and NOT send multiple Pause Frames unless solicited or the previous one is about to expire and they still are not clear to receive more.

Thanks Chris, I know about flow control story and I also have a prove that AC radios have the same problem. But I never saw any message that UBNT has confirmed this as issue and works on fix :-( Instead I saw some threads where Chuck (or someone else from UBNT) says that it is an issue of Netonix.

No this is not a Netonix issue as people have reported this issue on other switches even Cisco with AF radios and airMAX AC radios.

It is NOT standard to throw unsolicited Pause Frames as fast as you can generate them when your buffers are full which is what they are doing.

The refresh button for mac table refresh the whole page, like pressing F5 or the browser refresh button, instead of only refreshing the mac-table div. Same behavior with Chrome, Firefox and Edge.

Also, why WebUI is really unreactive with Firefox ? It won't timeout like edgerouter but still really long to load the page.

I agree with you Chris.... our UBNT 5AC radios sometimes kills our UBNT ToughSwitches as well (and the simple cure is to unplug AC radio). PLEASE try to push on UBNT as much as you can ..if you can.

If you upgrade to the latest firmware and Enable Pause Frame Storm Protection on the Device/Configuration Tab is should catch a Pause Frame Storm and automatically disable Flow Control on the port preventing the switch from seizing up so you do not have to unplug the AC radio to get the switch back.
