Flow control

Mon Oct 05, 2015 3:47 pm

Hi All,

reading a lot about flow control, so enabled it on most of the devices. Though i have a couple of issues.
I have three AF24's connected to a WS-24-400A. On two of the AF's i enabled FC, but it doesn't show as such in the switch?!
Also, i have a Rocket 5AC-lite, which doesn;t show FC, and doesn't have an option for it in the airos7 software.
Then the last thing, i use an SFP port as uplink, and on the other side i have a brocade switch, which says it does only support FC on copper ports, not on SFP.
So three issues are giving me trouble, any thoughts on this?

And no, i'm not going to exchange the uplink for a copper one. I like the seperation of networks by glass, since we also run a datacenter here. And we don't want a lightning hit to the tower to go through the complete UTP network, destroying 1000's of network ports. The glass link is a nice seperation point. This way network and power(near future) are completely seperated.

O, switch is firmware 1.3.3, so it shows FC correct. Some airmax and mikrotik equipment do show FC, so it's something with the airfibers. They are firmware v3.2-beta1.28118, to have them in aircontrol V2.

Thanks,

Alexander

We will be releasing v1.3.5 soon that has better SFP controls.

As far as 2 out of 3 AF properly negotiating FC not sure, on the port not reporting negotiated Flow control see if you see any Tx or Rx Pause frames under Port Stat Details. Maybe double check you have FC enabled on the AF and on the switch port then reboot the AF?

Also not sure about FC on airOS 7, maybe someone should ask UBNT if they are going to support FC on airOS7?

Is flowcontrol supported at all by SFP? Since mikrotik also doesn;t have the option on it's SFP ports?!

Yes it is supported but we are having a hard time polling that information.

As I said just view the Detail Port Stats and look for Tx and Rx Pause frames to see if it is working.
