Error communicating with power supply

Thu Nov 05, 2015 6:31 pm

Programming a new WS-12-250DC and I am Receiving the following errors in the log and I am no longer getting a reading in the 'watts' section. It just says 'error'

Any ideas?

I'm up at the tower site right now so I can't do much. I am going to swap it out for another WS-12-250DC spare that I brought.

Nov 5 14:14:16 switch[782]: Error communicating with power supply
Nov 5 14:14:17 switch[782]: i2c error: excessive arbitration lost start errors (0x51)

A reboot of the switch made it go away but now it's back after about 40 minutes.

New switch out of the box and updated to 1.3.6

If it's working other than that then I would wait.

It is a bug in the v1.3.5 and v1.3.6 firmware.

I just put up v1.3.7rc7 that has that fixed.

Can you try that and see if it fixes your issue?

The 2nd switch just did the same thing after running fine for almost 2 hours. Is it ok to leave it? I am still up here and want to head home haha. Seems to be running fine though.

Upgraded to 1.3.7rc and the error continues. I am going to power cycle the switch now

I have two 250DC's i just installed here. The 1st one is running fine.

24v power, about ~130 watts use on each one

Also you should space those apart in the rack as you are covering the holes in top of chassis where heat escapes

Good idea. I'll do that now... It's an air conditioned room at 72 but the cooler the better!

Also on DC switches you really need to have an Earth Ground connected to that screw other wise there is no Earth ground for shielded cables or anything.

ADD AN EARTH GROUND
