port limiting causing failure

We have 16 Netonix switches in our network at this time 7 of them are 8 port and the rest 6 port switches. We have port limiting set on the port for the house our equipment is on. On our most recent upgrades to netonix switches they failed to boot up until we disabled the limiting on the port for the customers house. Unfortunately nothing was reflected in the log because we had to disconnect the customers port and reboot the switch to get it working again. Simply removing the limiting controls allowed the switch to boot up succesfully. When we added the limiting back the switch locked up immediately. The attached picture is the configuration of the ports on one of the many succesful installs. We disabled loop protection to see if that was the problem but it wasn't. Anything I should look for that could be causing this

That is an old version of the firmware, what version is that?

Can you please upgrade to the latest firmware and see if the issue remains.

As Chris said, that version shown in the pic is old. Assume it was taken either pre upgrade or you rolled back to old firmware.

I just pulled a WS-6-MINI out of a box and upgraded to v1.3.7 and did this test

Port 1 is being powered by our WS-12-250-AC
Port 2 goes to my computer

Also tried it with my computer in port 2 - worked fine?

Maybe upgrade the switch.
Factory default it and set it back up????

I just power cycled the WS-6-MINI several times with v1.3.7 with port limiting and was fine.

I do know you can not power cycle a WS-6-MINI "FAST" when you pull power give it a GOOD 10 second count or it can boot up in a messed up state.

That was showing a sample where it is working problem free. The 2 we have had the problem with are both running 1.3.7 but I'm approaching the customers to find out what kind of routers they have. I think for some reason the issue is related to the customers device. Here is one of the 2 not working. I moved the customers port to number 2 while in the field and did not update the names yet.

Well beyond telling you to upgrade to v1.3.8 not sure what else to say.

Maybe post up all the Config Tabs then tell me what to do to re-create the issue.

I am not sure how their router could affect it, possible some virus causing a packet storm or something, grasping at straw here.

You could plug into the switch where they plug into the switch and see if it works then plug their router in and break it down into small tests to narrow it down.

I found the error causing the problems with the limiting. User error. I was putting a space in the limiting section and the software did not give me an error but the switch would lock up as soon as a device was plugged into the port with the limiting set.

Hey thanks for reporting back. Can you be a little more descriptive on how to recreate this so we can fix it in the next release.

By the way v1.3.9rc8 is probably very close to going final and fixes a lot of issues (not this one).
