WS-24-400B ; power out of range status

Thu Feb 18, 2016 12:26 pm

Hi,

We have a WS-24-400B that I've noticed recently is showing red on all the power statuses. Otherwise though the switch seems to be operating fine. Just wondered if I could get some clarification on what might be causing this. I've upgraded it from 1.3.8 to 1.3.9 with no real change.

Feb 18 11:15:38 switch[1409]: 48V is out of range (20.6V)
Feb 18 11:15:38 switch[1409]: 24V is out of range (9.8V)
Feb 18 11:15:38 switch[1409]: 24V (Ports 13-24) is out of range (9.8V)
Feb 18 11:15:38 switch[1409]: 3V is out of range (1.2V)

Thanks!

2 possible reasons for this:

1) The switch took damage to the current sensors and since the current sensors share the same I2C bus if damaged the right way will interfere with other sensors such as voltage. This has been discussed many times.

And we touch on damage current sensors and their affects in this thread on RMA procedure:

Good information on site grounding can be found here:

2) You have a damaged or incompatible SFP module, remove the SFP module and use another brand, this has also been discussed before.

I did a quick search for your problem and this post came up:
