WS-12-250-DC Suddenly Died!

We responded to network alerts today and found the netonix had a dim green light for power but all of the ports were unpowered. We went back to the office and programmed up a replacement and it fired right up and is working well. This is a 24v solar site and the batteries were fully charged when this went down. I brought the problem netonix back to the office and tried it on a 12v battery we use for programming new devices and it is also fully charged. The same dim power light and fan operating but no power on the ports and no way to access through console or via gui.
Any ideas?

Just as an aside, I has a ws-12-250-dc switch at a solar site and we had a little accident where a 24v wire touched a piece of metal with a direct path to the switch and it had a similar results in that the switch powered up and the fan ran but no access to console or GUI - perhaps yours had a similar incident with a stray charge?
I shipped it back for RMA recently and it will be interesting to hear what happened to the switch.

That's interesting. I have everything coming into terminal blocks where the solar, wind, charge controller and the remote web monitor can watch all of the voltages and wattage going and coming from each device. There is no way I could find that any of the wires could come in contact with each other.
