Hi Netonix

I have deployed a few Netonix switches and have experienced a high failure rate!
WS-MINI-6 - deployed successfully and still working (powering 2 x Ubiquiti Radios)
WS-12-DC - FAILED, connected first of two Ubiquiti radios ok, connected second switch blew up and tripped circuit.
WS-24-400A - FAILED, lost PoE output on one switch bank during install and ~12 hours after installed the other bank of ports completely failed. (possible cable short due to steel cable ties)
WS-12-250-AC - Has failed, powers on but no response. Sending a tech to site now to investigate.

Sorry for your experience, we are on RMA 160 out of 12,000+ switches.

Of the 160 RMAs only about 25% are actual failures of some form or another the rest are mostly surge damage repairs from ESD, storms, or ground potential shifts.

We do REPAIR damaged switches for a modest fee. Since your AU we would consider selling you the parts and shipping to you if you do not want to send back to RMA.

With DC switches we have seen a LOT of reverse polarity damage from hooking negative to the red terminal and positive to the black terminal. Also people hook up the DC but fail to hook up the Earth ground to the chassis lug so the switch has no access to Earth Ground except up the Ethernet cable to the tower so this is a pretty bad situation.

Most of surge damage is from poor grounding practices and upon opening the chassis this is what we see *see pictures below*

Which is why I have been on a kick about preaching grounding practices:

Here are some good posts on grounding:

However you may just have bad luck and you have failures, I can not tell until I see the units?

The instruction to RMA your switch are located here:

thanks for getting back with that information.

Can i open the failed units and send pictures prior to moving any further with RMA?
