Issue with STP between copper port and fiber SFP

Hi,

We're experiencing an issue with a deployment of Netonix WISP Switches in a ring network at a client site. Basically, the switches are all connected via UBNT AirFiber radios as the primary link, with fiber as a backup using RSTP (don't ask why it's not the other way around, it's just what the client demanded). At any rate, in our redundancy and implementation testing, we can't get STP to activate the fiber ports when we simulate a wireless link outage. We tested failing from copper to copper, and that seems to work just fine, but not fiber.

Is this a known issue? Has anyone encountered it before? I've searched through the forums and haven't been able to find anything.

Thanks in advance!

No RSTP has been proven many times to work as it is supposed to in fact I use it at my WISP.

What version of firmware are you running?

Please provide a diagram of all equipment from switch to switch

Also post up RSTP Tabs of switches

Maybe you should play with this in your LAB before implementing it using 2 switches and 2 cables as RSTP works the same regardless of medium

We always LAB stuff before production especially if some new equipment we have not used before.

Thanks for the quick reply. I'll look further into the fiber setup. It's possible that there's an issue with the runs (the other issue we suspected), we're just approaching on multiple fronts. We're running firmware version 1.4.2, if that means anything. :)

UPDATE THE FIRMWARE THAT FIRMWARE IS 6+ MONTHS OLD AND HAS A LOT OF FIXED BUGS AND SECURITY PATCHES IN THE CURRENT VERSION v1.4.7

Please confirm you upgrade the firmware to v1.4.7 or v1.4.8rcX

Some of the things fixed are to do with SFP ports

The switches were installed about 6 months ago so that makes sense. Will try the new update and see how it goes.
