Got an issue, had a mimosa flapping for 2 days with bad port, it was going from 1g to down and 1g to down - over and over, and the netonix never emailed us, we get alerts from it going 1g to 100, and 100 to 10, or 1gig to 10, etc but nothing for 1g to 1g or 1g to down, etc - can this be confirmed by someone else?

Nov 8 09:04:08 Port: link state changed to 'down' on port 3
Nov 8 09:04:13 Port: link state changed to 'up' (1G) on port 3
Nov 8 09:04:15 Port: link state changed to 'down' on port 3
Nov 8 09:04:23 Port: link state changed to 'up' (1G) on port 3
Nov 8 09:04:42 Port: link state changed to 'down' on port 3
Nov 8 09:05:21 Port: link state changed to 'up' (1G) on port 3
Basically we just saw that over and over for 2 days, no emails.
Once we were aware of it we replaced the mimosa and its been fine ever since, but we still didnt get any emails.

unexpected link change on port 15 (HC22 M2 AP) from 100M-F to 10M-F - from HC Switch 1 (172.17.1.2) .
I would check and test your SMTP settings in the switch and review your mailserver logs, there is nothing wrong with the switch SMTP alerts

Any chance when port 3 goes down that so too does its ability to send you email?

I know what you mean but no, this site is fed from a different link that was running fine, we use a single loopback ip for communication, etc as we use ospf this can always be reached, as ive said already we get ALL emails for other things, voltage alerts, 1g to 100, 100 to 10, 1gig to 10, watchdog alerts, everything else works except in this instance when the link was just going up and down at 1g each time for ~2days.

I cannot help but think a down port is very different from all the other conditions that the switch did send emails for. Could it possibly be unfortunate timing where OSPF or STP reconvergence just happen to be at the exact time the email send tried and failed? I once reported a bug with an HP Procurve switch where a "perfect storm" of conditions prevented a condition from being communicated over the network.

No I dont think so at all, this site did not loose connectivity or ability send an email, it has its own backhual, and the fault was on port3 to another site that is isolated so data does not flow through it.
