Can't get SNMP to Work

I have tried for several hours to get SNMP to work on a switch and I'm failing. What am I missing?

I've configured the SNMP server on the switch, but I can't walk it with either version 1 or version 3.

root@internal:~# snmpwalk -v 1 -c <key>10.200.81.5
Timeout: No Response from 10.200.81.5

But I do have access to it:
root@internal:~# ping 10.200.81.5
PING 10.200.81.5 (10.200.81.5) 56(84) bytes of data.
64 bytes from 10.200.81.5: icmp_req=1 ttl=63 time=51.5 ms
64 bytes from 10.200.81.5: icmp_req=2 ttl=63 time=51.5 ms
64 bytes from 10.200.81.5: icmp_req=3 ttl=63 time=54.0 ms
64 bytes from 10.200.81.5: icmp_req=4 ttl=63 time=51.7 ms

And I get SNMP walk other devices on this network. Any help would be appreciated.

Oh that's odd. I had to disable and then re-enable the SNMP server on the switches and now everything is working. Version 1.0.8

However,
Cacti seems to fail to be able to pick out the owner/location string:

It's there:
iso.3.6.1.2.1.1.2.0 = OID: iso.3.6.1.4.1.10002.1
iso.3.6.1.2.1.1.4.0 = STRING: "Matt Hoppes"
iso.3.6.1.2.1.1.5.0 = STRING: "OpenWrt"
iso.3.6.1.2.1.1.6.0 = STRING: "Tucker St"

But Cacti doesn't want to find it, any idea why?

Also,
It doesn't seem to pull ifName?

|host_description| - |query_ifName| - |query_ifAlias|

Neither ifAlias nor ifName seem to return anything in Cacti for the Netonix switches. These values return values for the interface descriptions on every other switch or router I've ever worked with.

And query_ifDescr appears to return "Port X" where X is the port number. Not very helpful. What am I missing here? Pulling interface stats from a switch is normally pretty easy.

I just walked the entire SNMP tree and nowhere do I see my port descriptions being reported.

I am guessing everyone is nursing a hang over?

My guys are off today and probably not watching the forums, it is a holiday for non business owners!

I would love to help you our Matt but I have not managed or worked with my WISP's SNMP software for years.

I am sure someone will reply tomorrow.
