Hi Team,
I have a netonix WS-12-250-DC that ports 2 and 8 only every auto negotiate at 100M, i have seen this before on other Same Model switches but didnt worry as we used 100M devices, I have tried changing cables to brand new patch leads known to work, i have changed end devices to ones that are known to work at 1G, but same result. I have tried fixing port to 1G on both switch and device but the link will not come up so appears those ports.
Port 8 on this switch has never been used until we where troubleshooting yesterday why port 2 was only 100M and then tested all other prots and found port 8 also same problem.
The FW on the switch is 1.4.9.

Has this problem been heard of before?. Do you think it could be firmware or simply faulty switch?

All switches are tested to achieve 1G links on all ports before we can even serialize them.

If the ports are not getting 1G links that means the switch is damaged, most often from either a shorted cable at one time or ground current that damages pair 3 and or 4 as pair 3 and 4 are used for 1G connection and pair 1 & 2 are for 10/100

A cable diagnostic with no cable plugged in "may" show error on pair 3 and 4 but if not then simply link to a device then do cable diagnostics on port again and you will see error on pair 3 & 4.


99% of all WISP equipment damage is from ground current (I own a WISP)
Another common cause for damage is a shorted cable or incorrect POE option applied to device.

Read the posts above but the basics are as follow:

Tower ground rods must be bonded to electrical service ground rods HEAVY #2 wire.
I always add 1 or 2 “new” ground rods to older existing electrical services.

You can RMA the units for repair as explained here: viewtopic.php?f=6&t=1259#p9343

But I would first preform the BENCH TEST

And read the grounding posts and fix your grounding or you will incur more damage.
