vlan tagging

Hi All

We have a ciena switch that does QinQ towards the netonix...it then goes across a wireless backhaul into another netonix that goes to a ciena again.

we have a tunnel eg. vlan650 that carries all customer vlans inside it.

we need to strip the outer tag... replace it with another outer tag...send it across the wireless and the strip the outer tag again and replace it again with the original outer tag before it goes to the other ciena.

we can't get it working.

example setup

ciena A - netonix A- backhaul radio A - backhaul radio B -Netonix B -ciena B

the reason we need to do this is because we have multiple backhaul links on the netonix on each side and do not want to cause a loop.

please help. we just don't seem to get it working...and I'm afraid we're not understanding how the netonix works with QinQ or double tagging/stripping outer tags etc.

we are doing g.8032 protection switching on the cienas.

There are plenty of posts on here that discuss QinQ and how it works.

There is a SEARCH box that allows you to search questions and answers from previous users so that we and other users are not answering the same questions over and over again.

Here is one search I did: search.php?keywords=qinq&terms=all&author=mike99&sc=1&sf=all&sr=posts&sk=t&sd=d&st=0&ch=300&t=0&submit=Search

Also the most common cause people mess up VLANs and QinQ is their MTU is set too small. Your MTU will need to be increased to account for the increased packet size due to the encapsulation.

Netonix don't support VLAN translation. You have to translate it on the Ciena and tag it on netonix like a standard vlan.
