SFP: FAULT on SFP 1, resetting...

The message "SFP: FAULT on SFP 1, resetting..." is appearing in the log about 20 times a minute. This started as soon as we put the unit into service yesterday.

WS-12-250-DC
Firmware Version 1.5.0
Board Rev F
MAC Address ec:13:b2:82:06:fe

This unit was RMAed. We received it back awhile ago. Everything else is working fine.

I backed up the config from the old WS-12-250-DC (info below) this unit replaced. I restored the saved config onto this unit.

Replaced:
Firmware Version 1.5.1.rc11
Board Rev F

Since this switch is now in production, what can be done to fix the problem? (Is this just a logging issue, or an operational issue?)

Thanks for your help.

Try upgrading to 1.5.2

Also you might have a bad sfp module.

I should have added that we do not have an SFP module in either port.

sounds like hardware is bad, the SFP detect bit thinks SFP is plugged in when it is not....RMA it, or you can probably fool it by plugging in SFP to get rid of error messages..

I conquer possibly a bad SFP module

Discussed here: viewtopic.php?f=6&t=4876&p=27856&hilit=+sfp+#p27856

Try another SFP module

We do not have an SFP module in either port. I tried disabling the ports - no change.

If I were to guess, I'd say it has something to do with importing a 1.5.1rc11 backup into 1.5.0. But what to do to fix the problem?

If I upgrade this unit (ec:13:b2:82:06:fe) to 1.5.2 in production, would the upgrade likely fix the issue? And since the switch still operates while upgrading, do I have a low risk of the switch stopping working?

Ok. Will do. I will swap it out with one of our spares, then RMA.

I would not RMA the unit until your sure the SFP module is not the issue.

Try a different SGP module and preferably another brand.

If you RMA it back and there is nothing wrong then you have shipping expenses and your out the unit during that time.

So, would you recommend I try upgrading the firmware from 1.5.0 to 1.5.2, then if that does not work, RMA the unit?
