What is "Legacy Fan Mode" and how does the switch decide to use it?

The manufacturer that created the fans removed the original one we were using from circulation because they had become obsolete, they provided a new one to replace it but we found out much later that it was not a perfect replacement and didn't function correctly with the old settings.

Since we didn't realize this until after they where in circulation, the software had to be able to determine which type it is dealing with and change the fan settings so that it would work with whichever one it detected.

The test itself is in principle very simple. Basically, try the first settings, see it if spins, then try the second setting, see if it spins and keep the settings that work.

What you might see now:

"Legacy Fan Mode" - old fan's before we could no longer get them.
"New Fan Mode" - the replacement
"Mixed Fan Mode" - this switch contains at least 1 new and 1 old fan
