Ground Lug on new switches
I just lost a switch after a storm and after closer inspection, I noticed the ground lug was painted over.
Looking at older switches the ground lug is clean.

It does not matter as the screw is conductive so the lug or wire wrap would get electrical contact from the screw head and the screw is conductive and the screw threads are bare..
Just because you have a ground wire connected does not mean you are lightening or more accurately based on what we see on RMAs ground current damage.
95%+ of RMA damaged units we see is GROUND CURRENT not electrical surge damage it just so happens ground current occurs more commonly during storms.

Looking at the older screws and new screws, they look like the have more of a coating on them also. I just tested with a multimeter and there is no connectivity through the black paint on the lug, and poor to no connectivity through different parts of the screw. Touching the silver threads inside resulted in good contact.

They are black anodized screws, they are completely conductive. I just tested them again to make sure I am not insane.

Not arguing with you, just FYI just in case they changed something on you that you are not aware of.
New screws are different. Checking the bottom of the heads where the contact would be made, older ones are 0 ohms. New ones have ohms all over the place. They are darker and the coating or whatever it is, is thicker.
I would suggest everyone clean these contact points with a Dremel, or do the mod above.
