WS-12-250-DC Powers down when I insert fiber SFP

I am having an issue with your WS-12-250-DC switch. I have been testing in the lab for a few weeks now and everything has been working great. I take it out to install it today and when I inserted the fiber sfp and the fiber jumper the entire switch powers off. after this happening multiple times I recall this same problem happening on the same model of switch at another site. I just didnt look into it far enough. I am running version 1.4.9, I did force the fiber port to 1g and it still did the same thing.

Try upgrading to the latest here and try again.

1.4.9 is over a year old and a great deal of work has been done on SFP in the firmware since then.

I uploaded the current firmware a week ago and applied it to another 12 Port DC switch and the switch became unresponsive. I noticed that it stopped upgrading when it was at 50%. I had to replace the switch.

Also we have a 12-250-AC that is onsite right now with that same SFP running the site. Why will it work on the AC version but makes the DC version shut down?

Very good question, that would indicate something wrong with the switch as basically all our switches are the same.

...or it could be a bad SFP. Are you sure they are identical? Some vendors may switch up their supplier.

After I updated the firmware the switch has stayed online for 6 hours now. I think the problem is solved. I will contact your RMA department to see if I can get a replacement switch. thanks for all of your input.
