WS-12-250-AC

Thu Aug 01, 2019 12:04 pm

Found this in the log today, running ver 1.5.0 - no fan running and current board temp is 76 degrees. Bad fan? Try newer firmware or power cycle?

If the fan's worked before and aren't working now, probably a bad fan - you might have to RMA.

If they've never turned on, try upgrading the firmware. Around the time period of 1.5.0 manufacturing replaced the old fan with a new one because the old one isn't made anymore and the newer firmware will solve that. (Honestly I would start with this since it would be an easy fix)

I upgraded the fw to 1.5.3 and got the same error after it restarted. Tried the new fan test button but nothing. I went over physically and checked - the fan was not spinning and not dirty or dusty at all. With a bit of effort, blowing on it and trying to spin it up with a key, it showed a bit of life - attempting to spin. Worked it a bit more and it spun up. I suspect the fan needs replaced and there might have been a brief power outage last night when it happened. I'm back in my office 45 mins later and it is still spinning away. How hard is it to change the fan or how do I RMA it?

There are a few reported cases of the screws holding the fan being too tight causing the fan housing to warp. Try loosening the screws about a 1/4 turn. It might get you by until the new fan arrives.
