Help with WS-8-150-AC Issues, Possible Spanning tree

Tue Sep 03, 2019 11:25 am

We have a Netonix WS-8-150-AC running 1.5.3 and it has a UBNT Back Haul on Port one and UBNT APs on the rest of the ports.

It seems to have two issues...

1 it will stop passing traffic, usually till we go onsite and power cycle it then it may work for 5 -10 mins or 24 hours or more and then the issue will come back. When it does this I have noticed when I click on the STP tab, the State has changed to State Discarding and Role of Designated.
It will likely stay like this till rebooted. Then as I said it will work for a random amount of time and do it again.

Strange thing about the spanning tree bit is that we don't really use spanning tree in the sense of avoiding loops, it is by default on, but we don't use it.
No where in our network do we have two links between a switch and another switch or any device.
No where do we have any loops. Its all one big cascade if that makes sense.

2. The other issue is, sometimes, it doesn't do that, but it looks like it just power cycles all the POE ports (all 24 Volt Radios) and they come back up. When this happens I log into the switch and it shows an uptime of several days, but I log into the devices individually and they show an uptime of just a few minutes.

We have ran a cable terster on on cables, then reterminated them, then actually pulled new cables. So I don't see a physical issue.

We have also replaced the switch with another one that was brand new.

If you aren't worried about loops forming, try disabling STP.

Let's start with that to see if it helps. If this was a DC unit I would blame the power cycling your mentioning on grounding or an inadequate power supply. If that continues after you disable STP, see if you can get the logs from the switch and post them here next time it happens.

Will do. I went in an unchecked the Enable for Spanning tree... So we'll see how this does.
Thank you for your time.
