Web UI not functioning after config restore

I restored a config to a different WS-6 because the original was having some random problems. It appears to have taken the config fine, but we're now unable to access teh web UI. I can log into it via ssh and make changes and I found some references to the web ui problem.

When running the following commend via ssh on the os it appears the ssl cert is broken, but I'm not sure how to proceed here. The switch is deployed on a tower now and I'd like to resolve this remotely if possible.

Code: Select all
admin@WM_LT_Switch:/www# /etc/init.d/lighttpd restart
sh: you need to specify whom to kill
2020-08-18 01:59:10: (network.c.604) SSL: couldn't read X509 certificate from '/etc/config/lighttpd.pem'
admin@WM_LT_Switch:/www#

I should also note that resetting the switch to defaults using cli still does not allow the web ui to be accessible.

Apologies up front but I don't have an answer for you. I have suggested in the past the config be exported as plain text in the format of CL commands the way the HP Procurve switches do. That way the export file could be made compatible with new hardware since it could be edited to resolve differences.

I completely agree with this as is the same with Cisco and mikrotik (at least export). The web UI worked prior to the restore so I'm left wondering if something messed up found it's way in, but really perplexed why a reset to defaults didn't resolve it.

Do you possibly have a 3rd, WS-6, where you could update it to the same version as the one in production?

Then you could fire up the original that was acting flaky as a guide, and copy the config manually to #3 using the GUI. once you're done, save the rebuilt config from #3 and use that config to upload to the one in production using CLI ?

Just an spooky additional thought, did competitors bad actor's figure out how to hack Netonix switches ?

We replaced the switch with one configured from scratch. At this point I'm not sure what to do with the one that the web UI doesn't work even after being reset. Firmware upgrade doesn't seem to fix it either. I wanted to leave it somewhat untouched further in case someone from Netonix wants to take a peek.

LRL, if you have something like TeamViewer we could schedule a time for me to look at your switch to see if I can help. PM me for more details. My first availability will be later this week.
