WS3-14-600-AC not passing management Vlan and tripping OCP

Wed Jan 06, 2021 6:35 pm

Deployed the first WS3-14-600-AC into production and when we got it in place the management vlan isn't passing traffic. All other vlans are passing traffic just fine like they did in the lab. Should have tested the management vlan. Weather has kept me from going back on site to take screen shots but ospf vlans are tagged to the corresponding tower and work perfect and the vlans tagged across the SFP+ ports pass just fine but I cannot get tagged management vlans working. I have tested this on a backup WS3 with different router and nothing on management is passing. We are using Mikrotik CCR routers and the same setup with the original WS has worked just fine.

On another note when we initially power up the switch or turn ports on or off the OCP kicks in. Good feature to have but at 18 degrees in the wind its not fun. If I unplug the ports and clear the OCP then plug it in they power up fine but it takes a person on site to work on anything. I have also had this happen in my lab with nothing plugged into the switch with the ports powered on.

Anyone else having these issues or is the end of 2020 still kicking my ass? :headb:

Thanks,
Nathan

We are investigating, in the mean time do you mind posting your Status, Ports, VLAN tabs and the logs. This is the beta release for WS3's so there might be a bit of tweaking we need to do. But I did not encounter this issue during testing. Also which Mikrotik CCR are you using exactly? I have one of my own just want to try and test it with as close to the same model as possible.

Thanks for the fast response. I will go on site and get you the logs and screen shots tomorrow afternoon. I left all the logs in place when I last left the tower. The router we are using at the tower and in the lab is the CCR1009-7G-1C-1S+. I also tested it with a CCR2004-1G-12S+2XS using the SFP+ modules and it acted the same way.

Thanks,
Nathan

Regarding the OCP issue,

How often does this occur when ports changing PoE status trigger OCP? Is it 100% of the time or only every now and then?

I have had the ocp trigger on startup and when you power up a port or change power options. It will even do it on an empty port that has power turned on at start up. The only way I could get it to clear is to pull the cable out with the power on, clear the ocp and plug it in. Then sometimes that doesn't even work. I had to move one AirFiber 11 to a different port because port 2 refused to power it. Moved ports and it worked fine. The logs I have will show ocp kicking in on port 2 as well. I cleared the logs as I was working on port 2 to look for anything that stood out so don't have any info on the other ports. I'll have the screen shots and logs posted soon.

Here are the screen shots and logs that I got. You can see where I had to switch ports 2 and 6 around to power the AirFiber 11. We used a power injector on port 2 to power the powerbeam since it wasn't that important.

Confirming we have OCP issue as well. Switch will not power a AF24 or Siklu that where previously powered with the WS-26-400-AC. Turns on for a few seconds then OCP kicks.
