Netonix Manager issue led to?

While working on some other things tonight I found that one of our ws-12-250s was showing a 1Gb port running nearly 1.5Gbps on way, at first I thought the siklu connected to it was the cause. I was having trouble getting to the switch WebUI, but eventually it loaded but was as sluggish as molasses in Alaska. I took me 20 minutes to get an SSH into the switch and when i did I found a BUNCH of 'switch' processes running.
Last week we were having trouble with Netonix Manager repeatedly crashing, it was crashing very frequently (every 5 minutes or quicker) so we upgraded from 1.0.18 to 1.0.20 and that seemed to solve the issue. I am however thinking that it could have caused this?
I believe my NOC guys have made it standard practice to go into NX Manager and click edit on a switch that is showing disconnected when they're trying to reconnect it. Thoughts on this?
A reload of the switch resolved the issues and it's back to normal. I thought about killing some of the 'switch' processes but was unsure of how that would have went. Should this happen again is there a recommended way to terminate the processes without the need to reload the switch and interrupt traffic?
