WS-6-Mini - power supply?

The reasoning was that with folks deploying Netonix into existing POPs, that they would be displacing several AF 50V PoE bricks so there should be a surplus of spares.

I know Chris was talking about coming out with a 54V PoE brick at one time. Now that Ubiquiti announced a 54V model, I have to wonder if that plan got the axe.

As for the size of barrel connector, IKWYM. Being the packrat that I am, I always cut the ends off of dead wall warts to have a ready supply of spares so it's just a matter of some solder and heatshrink to make up what I need.

My first prototype MINI did not have a barrel connector and had I known that they were going to add a DC in, I would have lobbied for a screw terminal block instead.

Can you define "soon"? I need to power two of these and before I head to Ebay to buy some AF24 POEs should I wait for a better injector? Is there a better current option other than the AF24?

Keep in mind that the 48V PoE out follows the voltage of 54V PoE in minus the 1.4V drop across the diodes and minus line resistance on the CAT5. Most 48V kit is actually designed to accept the 802.3af/at spec of 57V but of course it is incumbent upon you to be sure.

I've just been looking though the forum but cant find an answer , so may I ask, if I only want to power 24v Ubiquiti kit such as rockets (AC) and powerbeam 400 AC at 24v with a WS-6-Mini, especially as the Ubiquiti kit also runs happily as low as 12v, can I supply the WS-6-Mini directly from 24V DC batteries/windcharger/solar?

The WS-6 spec sheets say 37v-53v, but I have no idea whether this is simply to ensure 48V output is possible, or whether the power electronics are much more flexible on actual input.
If the answer is "No", fair enough, and I will need to source a 24v to 48v converter, but if I can avoid an extra device with its extra power cosnumption, I want to do so.

No, the WS-6-MINI "requires" 48V give or take a few volts.

It may power up with 24V but it will reboot randomly and will cause the unit to run warmer than intended.

It will run OK at 37V but it will not power 48V devices then just 24V devices.

It's not like Chris to miss a sales opportunity.
I would suggest the WS-8-150-DC model. Not only will it give you the wide range of DC in voltage, but it will also give you voltage monitoring and load shedding options.
