Got 4 units NIB and decided to put one in to operation this weekend at a remote mountain site. Had to get the tractor out to plow the road to remove 2ft of snow.
Anyway I programmed this unit upgraded firmware and took it up to the site and replaced the other switch. Plugged in the cat 5 cables and plugged it in to the UPS. Got some red lights on the SW. Those were from the 24V POE side and then they started to work.
Logged in to the SW and saw on the error log that it stated the cables were shorted, which the were not . Dont know if it was think about something but the radios powered on and all was good with the world. The radios that I am powering up are UBNT airmax units. Everything worked well. After about 24 hours when lI sat down at home to watch TV, I find that the internet just went out. WTF
Luckly the trail up to the site was some what clear and made my way to the tower. Open up the box and the WS-8 was dead. All I had with me was a Toughswitch and I threw it in to get things back on line. So is there any problems with these units? I see that they are not available any more. I pulled the other 3 out of the box and am doing a burn-in to see if they die. Some of the locations I have I cant get to readily this time of year. Im a little gun shy after having been bit by UBNT's tough cable and switches. Also how long does it take to get a RMA number?
What's up with WS-8-250AC?

No there was nothing wrong with the units we just wanted to reduce skews.
We plan to bring back a WS-8 but not as a 250 watt unit rather a cheaper 150 watt unit and fanless.
When you get it back follow these instructions for RMA viewtopic.php?f=6&t=1259

Re: What's up with WS-8-250AC?
Thanks for the info. RMA info sent a few days ago so when ever we get it back we will get the unit off to you.
I'll test the other units. In the morning as right now I just powered them up to see if they are still on when I get back in.
Ordered up 4 more switches to have repairs around.
Glad to here there wasn't a problem with the units. Just a redesign.
Thanks again
