The 8 port version will be released sometime soon.

Any forecast on price and power consumption ?

Looks great. Very much looking forward to these babies.

Also, any possible way on the DC version we can get voltage monitoring of the input power source. With the email notification capability you have built-in to the switch, this would be great.

Additionally, will we be able to power one of these over Cat5? For repeater/microcell type applications on a customer's roof where we could get away with running only one cable down to a power source? We do that now with TS5s though they are not as stable as we would like.

Finally, any idea on the voltage input range that will be accepted?

Well... the 250 in the model name suggests 250W and the 6.6W on the screenshot suggests around that much with one non-PoE device connected.

Price I cannot deduce from the above.

We stayed with the same 250 watt power supply as in the 12 port assuming people will cram this into a small box which means it will run hotter and the less you push a power supply to the limit the longer it lasts in hot environments.

This is not going to try and compete with the TS8 on price as this units has many more features:
Twice the size power supply
Ability to power two airFIBER/SAF/Exalt type links
Link aggregation
SNMP
Passive POE monitoring
Cooling Fan
Exact same feature set as our larger switches.

We are trying to get the MSRP in at $249.95 but we are not sure yet.

Ja, I read the thread... it is an approximation affected by heat, etc. At the low end a Kill-a-Watt's accuracy is probably not much better.

The DC versions have DC input voltage and current sensors to know what your taking from the batteries as well as individual POE device and switch wattage consumption.

The AC version only reports what POE devices and switch itself consumes from the power supply wattage budget standpoint to make sure you are within the power supply ability and to see if devices are taking more power than they normally do..

plus or minus half a watt on the actual power is more informative than perfect precision on an unknown portion.

That's $31.25 per port. With talk of a 12 port in the same small form factor (SFF), I wonder how many would go the extra $100(?) for the 4 extra ports. Assuming the 12 port SFF to be priced at $349.95 ($29.16 per port) like the rack version. Now if the 12 port SFF is without SFP maybe it will come in at a lower MSRP and so it may make it more attractive.

It is hard to predict buyer decisions. I read where someone bought 12 port over 24, presumably to save $200 but then want to buy copper SFPs to get 2 more ports. Add the cost of 2 copper SFPs and the 24 starts to look like the better deal.
