Watchdog configuration problem.

Mon Jul 02, 2018 8:29 am

Hi:

I have a tower that is powered by solar energy. Problem is that i wish to power off backup dish while backhaul link is ok, and power on when backhaul is ko.

192.168.2.2 - On port 1 (Switch A)
192.168.2.3 - On port 11 (Switch B)
192.168.2.4 - On port 1 (Switch A)
192.168.2.5 - On port 11 (Switch B)

Switch A - 192.168.1.10 Switch B - 192.168.2.10 (Differents subnets and VLANS)

Watchdog Rules at Switch B
Port /IP/ Startup / Interval / Failures / Action
11 /192.168.2.3/ 10 /5/ 2 Enable Power
1/ 192.168.2.2 /15/ 5/ 2 Disable Power
11/ 192.168.2.2 /20/ 20/ 2 Enable Power

Situation 1

192.168.2.3 - KO --- Switch B whatchdog Port 11 Power On when lost ping at 192.168.2.3 (Problem: when backup is linked, Switch B has ping of 192.168.2.2, and turn off port 11, then lost ping of 192.168.2.3 and turn on Port 11 again...switch POE on Loop  )

Situation 2

192.168.2.2 - KO --- Switch B whatchdog Port 11 Power On when lost ping at 192.168.2.2 (Now first rule is all time turn on/off port 1, but not problem because backup link is running).

But now problem is rules 2 and 3 to solve problem with situation 1, come into conflict with rule 1, and Backup (port 11) is all time in loop.

I can't find solution to this situation... perhaps stablishing a field more in wathdog could be solved. This field it should be something like port to check ping wathdog.

Try to check this situation at laboratory.

Well if anybody has a solution, plese tell us.
