Fan questions

Edit: Figured out the fan mode/profile situation, so that's settled, still mostly the question of fan orientation.
So this is in two parts:
1. So we had a WS-12-250-AC come in from the field with a bad fan. Normally we'll just replace it, reset, update, and back out it goes. Well, I may have installed the fan backwards as an intake. Is there any issues with this, or should it be fine? Only thing that comes to mind it dust/debris getting in easier. Funnily enough I think the temps for CPU and PHY are lower, but that may due to the fan profile, which I include below.
2. From a little searching, I've seen some questions posted before about fan speed/profile. From what I've seen, it sounds like it's locked, and set to whatever mode depending on the firmware. Is that pretty safe to assume? I have one I just tested on LEG, which I take it as legacy, and another on NEW, where the fan actually turns off pretty frequently. Both are WS-12-250-AC on 1.58.
