Sometimes it is nice to shutdown a power hungry link for a few hours in the 1 to 6 am time to save batteries during low charge cycles in winter.
It would be better if the option to override that shutdown timer were available if ping watchdog indicates a problem with the alternate routes.

Food for thought, remind us once we have current issues resolved. Do not have the time now or want to introduce another issues at this time.
