What I need is a $100 switch. An alternative to the TS-5-PoE. Though I've sworn to myself twice that I wouldn't purchase any more, I find that I need a 5 Port switch to power UVC and UAP for ~$100 and so ordered 4 more up today :'(

We have the W-6-MINI coming out next month but it has a lot of bells and whistles and will sell for around $160.
It does not come with a power brick but I am sure you have a ton of old airFIBER power bricks laying around which work fine.
It also has a barrel connector and we will sell both a POE and barrel connector brick for it.
Port 1 is POE in so it has no POE out options if using a barrel connector.
Port 2 has 24VH & 48VH 1.5A POE out
Port 3-6 has 24V & 48V .75A POE out
But it also has all the optional equipment like current sensors, cam switch core as the 24 port, large flash, memory and such.

That thing will kick the TS-5 around the block!

I can already see that there will be a bunch of guys running this off of a DC to DC converter at solar sites!

for wISP service I'm excited about it, but I do need that one size down. I don't know why I've found this niche, but I've been doing a number of storage units and have a lot of ~300ft runs.
There is no budget here for fiber, so I'm using the TS5PoE as a midspan switch and then powering 2-3 UVC off the remaining ports. It works very well except for a somewhat higher than desired failure rate on the TS (~10%) that goes unacknowledged by ubnt. About 50% of those failures are after warranty is up.
I'm on the verge of switching back to 'tiks rb260gsp, but those things have crap power supplies so there is a failure rate there too.

Well the WS-6-MINI is excellent mid=span as you can power it via POE on port 1 with an old airFIBER power brick.
Or powered by say a WS-8-250-AC 48VH port going up to 100 meters to the WS-6 then another 100 meters to an airCAM.

The slightly higher price of the MINI should offset the TS 10% failure rate and you cannot put a price on a good night's sleep. I have every bit of faith that the MINI will be a rock solid product.
I really like the flexibility of powering it either from DC, from another WS, or from a PoE brick. Makes for a great midspan extender too.

Oh, and the other great thing is that it can do both 24V and 48V in the same package so you swap 24V/48V kit at any time.

Or a barrel connector transformer, do not forgret that option
