WS-12-250-DC maximum input current

Fri Jan 01, 2016 3:41 pm

Hi,

Happy new year to everybody.

As I understand, the WS-12-250-DC switch has 250 W maximum power and 9 to 60 V input voltage range.
Can we have 250 W maximum power even with low voltage power source like 9 Volts ?
If yes, I am a bit surprised because this would make around 28 A input current.
If not, what would be the maximum input current on the WS-12-250-DC ?

I need to know this to figure out the maximum power I can get in practice with my quite low voltage power supply.

Thanks a lot for your kind help and support.

Again, best wishes for this new year.

Best regards.

Jean-Samuel Najnudel.

No, at 9V the POE budget is 100 to 150 watts

Hi,

Thank you very much for your reply.

The information you provide looks clear and detailled. Thanks a lot.

I would also have another question.
In 4 pairs mode, pinout is pins 1,2,4,5(+) 3,6,7,8(-).
One of the microwave radios we plan to use has pinout 1,2,7,8(+) 3,6,4,5(-).
Can we setup 1,2,7,8(+) 3,6,4,5(-) on the WS-12-250-DC ?
If yes, this is great.
If not, do you think I can power my 1,2,7,8(+) 3,6,4,5(-) radio with the WS-12-250-DC ?
In other words, considering your experience, do you think most good quality microwave radios has 2 rectifier bridges on their PoE input ?
Of course, I do not ask you to guarantee anything, I just ask you about your feeling and your experience.

Thanks a lot for your kind support.

Best regards.

Jean-Samuel.

Most radios do not have the ability to deal with polarity pin out change, have bridge rectifier circuit.

I would not try it unless you first ask the manufacturer of the radio and explain the pin out the switch provides polarity on.
