Hopefully we get good feed back from the people trying the shielded I2C cable like shown above then we can ship them to people like you who have an issue at these type of sites.

I think we may be having the same issue. We have been fighting a WS-12-DC on one of our sites that has an FM broadcast reply/repeater within 25 feet of our switch and has our DC power cable running passed the antenna. Switch works fine in the office but once on site we will quickly get a flashing red error light on port 2, even without anything plugged into that port. We also are not able to get into the switch and it seems to reboot every minute or so. The FM transmitter is not a high powered one, it's a repeater for an out of town station and while we don't normally have problems with it we did have trouble with Mimosa's that they traced back to the FM station. Any ideas?

Sounds good. I put in another switch but left the WS-12-DC in place so we are willing do some testing.

Cameron did you have the Earth Ground connected to the chassis? When using a DC switch you "must" connect the chassis Earth ground on the chassis.
Also what version of Firmware was loaded on it? If not the latest v1.3.9rc13 please try that version.

Yes we had the ground bonded to the building ground system and the latest firmware.

Yes, we have had several people with the "SMART" DC switches which include the WS-8-250-DC and WS-12-250-DC having an issue with AM/FM/TV broadcast towers but no issues with the AC switches at these sites. One customer in CA switched from using the WS-12-250-DC switches to the WS-12-250-AC and his problem went away. We are working with him on a solution as he left the DC models there and is trying a few things for us.

Out of curiosity do you have one of our AC switches as we would be curious if you see the same issue with one of our AC switch at this site?
You say you had issues with other gear taking interference at these sites as well (Cambium radios)?

I can comment on this too as Cameron and I are working together on the project.
We do have an AC that could be used. I would need to run AC to the enclosure as this is only a DC spot. We will do that this week to test.
The issue we had with other gear was a Mimosa B5C and the GPS going goofy quite possibly due to the nearby FM. However, their 1.2.1 firmware appeared to have alleviated that (among other things).

I am worried that the DC power lines going to the Netonix switch are picking up a lot of RF noise because you mentioned they are being run close to the FM repeater antenna. Can you run the DC power cable differently, or shield the DC power cable?

We are working on a solution but at this point we do not have one....yet.
I do want to point out that out of several thousand units there is only 5 people who have had this issue and all of them are at AM/FM/TV broadcast towers.
Now 1 is too many and we are continuing to work towards a solution, it might not happen over night but we will continue to try and come up with a solution for these difficult installations.
But for all those other people out there not installing the DC units on towers that co-locate with AM/FM/TV broadcast you should not experience this problem.
