Good thing you did it today as per your sig. There's no saying what would have happened if you did that tomorrow.

...power cycle restored communications but also restored the port 13 setting to 1G.

So, I now have two WS-12-250DC switches (Board Rev D, firmware 1.3.9 running 100Mb Avago SFPs (AFCT-5765ATPZ) with one happy with "Auto" and the other happy with "1G" for the port speed. It works so I'll just leave it along but it is strange...

...back to the original poster: you can run 100Mb fiber but it could get interesting.

Yea, it all depends on the SFP module. Some work with Auto and some with 1G and some both.

I just took 2 SFP modules OUT OF SERVICE as they would work with both settings but if I changed from 1 to the other setting I had to reboot the switch to get them to link back up.

If you have an SFP module like that I would look at replacing it when you can.

It is OK if it only works with 1 setting but if you can not switch back and forth and get the link back without rebooting the switch I would get rid of that SFP module - I DID.

So it is an individual SFP thing and not a brand / model thing? These are both the same SFP make / model.

Kind of like people, worry about the individual not what groups they belong to...

Well, I have found when you buy the OFF brand SFP modules (and we do very often) they sometimes vary from unit to unit.

When we do buy the several hundred dollar Cisco brands they are always the same.
