Re: "Q" setting on the vlan tab

Just wanted to share how I'm using QinQ in my lab. This is only one example of QinQ.

To stress test radio's after new firmware releases, we've setup an AP CPE lab. Using a netonix mostly because it cuts out using 5+ POEs, but also because I want to show my company how great the netonix is so they'll buy more... It's a negotiation in progress.

In my lab, I've got 4 CPE's, which each get their own QinQ group. For example, CPE 1's packets will enter port 6, and the netonix will tag the packets 1011. If the packet already has a vlan, it will add an addition vlan 1011. Since port 5 is also QinQ selected for vlan 1011, the vlan 1011 will be removed and the packet will then leave the switch on port 5.

It's basically turning the switch into a poe passthrough for my lab. Since the CPE's are associated to the AP, regular packets and vlan traffic will go from the PC to the CPE as if they were just plugged into each other in a POE injector, the traffic will pass through the AP, then out the switch to the router in our LAB setup for DHCP and all management IPs. If the PC on port 5,7,9,or 11 set the right subnet to vlan 2, they can also access the netonix management, via the AP they're associated to which is allow to access the management.

I hope this actually makes sense, and that I've explained things right :leave:
