Trouble cascading between two WS-8-250-AC units

Wed Apr 06, 2016 5:46 pm

We have been having some trouble with two WS-8-250-AC that we have set up to cascade between them, to power two different sets of equipment. Intermittently, they will have trouble negotiating link and thus drop link between them. It usually resolved itself within an hour, but that was of course not acceptable uptime. We checked, and the cable used to cascade between them is not having any issues. Ultimately we got it stabilized by limiting it down to 100MF rather than autonegotiating (which would usually yield 1000MF).

Both units are on the latest stable build. Any insight?

I would swap ports around and see if you have a bad port?

We've tried that without much success.

I will mention that the cable in question is a straight-through as opposed to a crossover, but it worked flawlessly for months.

Have no idea then.

If you have a spare switch swap one out at a time.
