I'm not sure my experience is due to the same thing, but I recently was attempting to make changes via the web GUI on a 1.3.9rc12 device and experienced a similar web interface lock-up (blank pages). I had to resort to logging in via SSH and restarting the web server from the shell. That seemed to fix it.

While the web GUI was in "blank page only" mode, I'd clear my browser's cookies and cache and reconnect fresh to the web GUI. No login screen would appear, just a blank page.

Once I had it working again (after restarting the web server via the shell), I double-checked the logs. I couldn't see anything there related.

When you experience an issue please upgrade to the latest code which at this time is v1.4.0rc3.

Then if your issue is still there we will investigate it.

There were changes between v1.3.9rc13 and v1.3.9 FINAL and then more changes since v1.3.9 to fix several UI and browser related issues reported.

Re: firmware loosing web ui [EDIT: 1.3.9]

Tue Apr 26, 2016 2:36 pm

The web UI locking up, becoming unresponsive, or displaying a blank page hit me again today on a WS-24-400A switch running 1.3.9 (release) with an uptime of 83 days 6 hours. The switch was pingable, so I used SSH to connect to it. Nothing showed in any longs. I restarted the lighttpd process and the web UI became responsive. For a short time. I made a configuration change (VLANS and/or power on a port) and applied it. That worked. But when I attempted to apply another change, it took forever--never applied--logs showed nothing--and I had to restart lighttpd again. This sequence of first config change applies erratically but second change locks up the web UI happened 2-3 more times. Then I discovered that if I killed the php-fcgi process AND restarted lighttpd, things began working again.

Please try v1.4.0rc12 and see if that helps.

Also I take you tried simply refreshing browser first and or tried another browser?

What browser are you using?

I leave my browser open with a lot of my switches logged in all the time. Now after a day or 2 (depending on your browser settings) the security certificate expires and I have to hit refresh and accept the invalid certificate and sometimes log back in but I have never had to log into my switch CLI and restart the web service.
