New WS-12 - device won't register it's address [Solved]

Wed Apr 20, 2016 11:25 am

Hey guys,

I just purchased 50 of these switches and have so far upgraded 26 of them. I'm at the 27th and 28th right now and I'm running into a weird issue.

I have one of the WS-12's sitting on my desk with my laptop plugged into one port and another WS-12 plugged into another (this is how I've done the other 26 so far). For some reason, the two devices I've pulled out now refuse to register an IP address at all

Trying to navigate to 192.168.1.20 and it just won't respond, nor will ping. Cleaned out my ARP cache just in case, and changed my laptop IP from 192.168.1.19 to 192.168.1.18 (/24 sub). Am I doing something silly here, or is this is a possible switch issue? (also yes I blocked off the last 6 of the MAC address)

Thank you!

dm

I do not know?

Maybe try these things:

Refresh browser

Factory default the switch by using a paper clip until the LED ring green and then red then let up. Now it has to sit for a couple minutes as it is formatting the flash section - LET IT SET DO NOT POWER OFF.

Or use a console cable and default it from the console.

Maybe try another browser, what browser are you using?

All else fails call me and I will team view in

Hey Chris,

Sorry for not responding sooner; been very hectic over here.

I ended up isolating a completely separate problem with ARP poisoning in my network, shut down the offending piece and rebooted my computer and was all good. Nothing wrong with the gear as usual :)

Thank you!!

Hows the NFL draft going?

Did you see that 6' 7" 400 lbs offense guy there and if so who's looking at him?

Ha, I didn't actually end up watching any of it except for walking past a TV in a restaurant and could see one of my nanostations in the background of the announcers talking
