WS-10-250-AC will not boot up

Mon May 23, 2016 12:17 am

I posted here regarding an issue upgrading to 1.4.0 final. I ended up upgrading this switch by downloading firmware to local computer then logged into the switch and upgraded. About 24 hours later I noticed my two UVC cameras that are connected to this switch were down. Netonix Manager showing it as Red/Offline. I couldn't GUI or ssh into the switch so I pulled the power. Upon power up, you can hear the fans for about 15 seconds then they shut completely off. The power light remains lit but all the switch ports are dead.

I plugged a Console cable into the Console port, hit enter and it returned

Is my next step a Firmware Recovery?

Re: WS-10-250-AC will not boot up

I tried to recover the firmware as outlined in the sticky except I used 1.4.0. Didn't have any issues, all steps completed successfully. After the switch reboots I get the same output as above.

Anything else I can try?

well according to your boot log

Jan 1 00:00:Jan 1 00:00:04 kernel: NET: RegJan 1 00:00:04 vtss_core: module l icense '(c) Vitesse Semiconductor Inc.' taints kernel.
switch: 'Luton26' board detected
nf_conntrack version 0.5.0 (2048 buckets, 8192 max)
i2c /dev entries driver
i2c_vcoreiii i2c_vcoreiii: i2c bus driver on IRQ 19

The switch is fully booted as this "i2c_vcoreiii i2c_vcoreiii: i2c bus driver on IRQ 19" is the last line in the boot process

From the console hit ENTER and you should get a prompt?

Re: WS-10-250-AC will not boot up

I got it resolved.

The prompt I was getting is
Code: Select all
 BusyBox v1.19.4 (2016-04-28 19:18:26 EDT) built-in shell (ash)
Enter 'help' for a list of built-in commands.
Segmentation fault
@OpenWrt:/#

At that point, the switch would only respond to the console, no fan and all the switch ports were dead.

I went ahead and unplugged it. I held in the reset button while plugging power back in. I watched the console until i saw 'reset button pressed' or something like that and I let reset button go. The switch did a default reset and at came to a prompt for me to hit enter to display the console so i did. After that the switch came back to life. The fan is now working and so are all the switch ports.
