High Input Voltage

Wed May 18, 2016 5:47 pm

How worried should we be about these log messages due to using 56V POEs for the 6 port netonix models? On a related but different topic: will you be adding input POE voltage as a value to the UI and snmp anytime soon?

56V is near the high end of what the unit is designed/safe to accept. I think it "might" survive up close to 60V "maybe"

Keep in mind that id you put 56V in that is what it puts out as 48V POE

I think v1.4.0rc25 increases the acceptable input range but I think it is 53V not 56V.

latest code for the WS-6-MINI has valid input power at 57 volts, after internal bridge rectifier, which equates to 58 volts external supply voltage being valid.
Albeit, someone running that close to the edge is playing with fire, because it is the maximum allowed.

It sound like using the Tycon 56v Passive PoE would be okay then - should not generate any errors?

Yea also considering you will have voltage drop on the cable so it will not be 56V when it gets there
