PROBLEMS with DC switches at or near FM tower locations

I do have AF5X and AC PTMP on it, running 1.4.0rc20, I did notice that the port towards AF5X had flow control disabled.

On the interesting side: the other side of the AF5X also has WS-6-MINI with 1.4.0.rc20 and 3x PTMP radios and that one is stable....but the traffic flow is from the one that locks up through AF5X towards AC PTMP radios on the other side..

Both sides of the ptp link had 1.4.0rc4 when the problem started, upgrading to 1.4.0rc20 did not make any difference.

Also when the switch locks up, the poe light on the 1st port is off while poe lights on 2,3 are on. All links come up for about 1 sec then disapear. Even when trying to connect laptop to get something out of the switch log, same behavior the laptop link comes on for 1 sec then it's off for longer time.

Unfortunately today after another event we removed the WS-6-MINI and put toughswitch back in...

Please install v1.4.0 FINAL as it has a Flow Control Pause Frame Storm protection on your switches.

It will disable Flow Control in the event the aiFIBER or airMAX AC radio creates a Pause frame storm.

When diagnosing a problem PLEASE always install the latest version of firmware first then report any issues you may still have and need help with.

If you find you still have a problem then we know what is not causing the issue.

Also the next batch of WS-6-MINI switches scheduled for sometime over the next month or 2 will have the same RF filters to help better protect them on FM tower sites. They too will be identified as RevF boards same as all the DC switches.

Follow up to this issue.

We have now purchased the latest DC switches and deployed one to a site that was giving us similar FR interference issue.

Happy to report those issues have disappeared, good job Netonix gang !

Which model Dc switch did you use?

Also, of good note, that Shireen has brought out some fiber cabling with DC wiring on it. This will be good for those that are on FM/TV towers. You will be able to run the data up on fiber, and have the DC wires on the same cabling to run the switch !

Recently installed 1.4.6 on two FM sites, nothing but problems with errors, resetting radios to defaults, stop passing traffic, etc
1 on WS-24-400B
1 on WS- I have to look

There is nothing in v1.4.6 that would have changed in regards to FM tower sites, you can read the release notes and see what changed.

Besides we only had issues with "older" DC switches at FM tower sites as it messed with I2C communications between the power supply and the switch and the AC models do not have I2C communications between the power supply and the switch or any external I2C communications at all.

I do not think this issue is related to v1.4.6?

Sorry to have resurrected and old post.

I have a tried multiple WS-12-DC switches that were deployed at an FM Public Safety Tower. The ports would flap no matter what port I was plugged into.
They switches were setup in a very basic configuration to power and feed 2 Mimosa B24 Radios.

*Shielded Cable with Shielded RJ-45 Connectors from Radios to Ubiquity Gen-2 Surge NIDS. Shielded Cable with Shielded RJ-45 Connectors patch cable from *NID to Switch.
*PowerStream 48 Volt 150 WATT Power Supply
*4x BP 12V 17Ah Batteries connected in series.
*Tried Accedian and Ubiquity SFP's for SM LC Fiber connection.

Any help would be appreciated in finding a resolution with the DC as I cannot use AC as there is no way to backup with AC.

you need to use the WS-12-250-DC, which has filtering for FM frequencies built in...the ws-12-dc has only limited filtering for FM noise, and most likely your power lines to the WS-12-DC are picking up FM noise.
