Always RMA it.

The repair fee is even if we replace the board is about half the cost of a new one plus we have not determined this is damaged or failed.

It is always nice to be honest when filling out the RMA form as tell us it was not protected.

I get upset when people send me a switch and ask for warranty and when we open it up the guts are charred black and parts blown off the board.

Yeah, understood... the stories I could tell about my days as an IBM CE...

OK... so I think I know what the culprit of this was in my case.

Will explain fully after the RMA analysis confirms/denies my hunch. (don't want to taint the outcome)
Hint: Look at port 8 when you get it back. Thanks!

Heh... you guys are gonna love what I put under Symptoms on the other switch I requested an RMA repair on then

The first switch arrived at the mothership today under tracking 1Z608W7A0332228064.
Will be curious to see what is found when it gets analyzed.

Well RMAs ground to a halt when I left for vacation which will be over in a couple days and I will return on Monday Aug. 22nd to work.

Well not really Eric (a different Eric then our Software Engineer, the other Eric is one of our techs) is diagnosing and fixing them while I am gone but there will be a small pile of them there for me to start contacting people when I return.

No worries, it is clearly stated on the RMA procedure that it takes 2-4 weeks.

Just wanted to let you know.

Now go back to enjoying your vacation!

Re: Power out of range? (3V)

OK so I'm getting a little concerned about this now.

After the last switch died I basically ripped everything out.
Added surge protectors, moved some equipment, verified electrical grounds (tester), verified correct wiring (tester), added groundstraps to everything in sight that wasn't already, and put in an APC SMT1500.
I'd ground the damn parakeet right now if it would hold still long enough!

Installed a brand new WS-8-150-AC direct from Netonix on 12-Aug in a different location, but replacing another switch that was there before.
Basically I'm Netonix end to end now except for a TS5 that is temporary until the other WS-8 comes back from RMA.

Starting the 16th the voltages fluctuated a little, but were generally stable.
Tonight I'm seeing this: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=QIn0yJ-0-IA

Now.. we don't have the best mains here, that's why I put in a second UPS and will eventually add one to the garage.

Earlier today a WS-12-250-AC went in my office. [WS12 <-> WS8 Archive <-> TS5 Garage]
It is stable, but am getting nervous now about both of these.

If it's of any value, here is the output from the UPS the WS-8 is on:

This is the 'Archive' setup. Basically a closet with louvered doors in conditioned room.
Grounding strap is connected to ground point on the UPS.

I'm open to any thoughts, suggestions, etc. Thanks-Jake

hmmm, your ws-8-150 has a very light load on it, while your ws-12 has more of a load.

do the ws-8 voltages fluctuate if you have no POE devices plugged in?

Yep the APC behind the WS8 has almost no load.
The other APC is running pretty much a complete home business office.

Well now that's interesting....

Turned PoE off to the only powered device (UAP-ACL) and it stabilized immediately.

Waited ~1min, turned it back on, and at 09:09:55 wall clock they started fluctuating again.

Am really loving these switches. Performance is soooo much better across the network.

Repeated the PoE test again at 09:20 with the same results.
Observations show the fan going Off -> ~2,500RPM regularly, and CPU between 8 and 30% regularly while just watching the Status page.
I remember Sirhc said in the video that CPU is not the PHY so not sure what it's doing just sitting there.

Rest assured, if it's something bizarre, it will happen to me
